howlogo.jpg Howes Cave, N.Y.  - This November, Howe Caverns has a special salute for past and present members of the military. And, Schoharie County's landmark tourist attraction has joined forces with the U.S. Marines to help their effort to collect Toys for Tots. "With Veterans Day -- November 11 -- falling on a Wednesday, our discounted tour rates for the military will extend from November 7 through November 15," said Howe Caverns General Manager Robert Holt. "This year, we have decided to help the Toys for Tots effort. Howe Caverns will be a collection point so that our guests may drop off new toys for children in need," Mr. Holt said.  "Our Toys for Tots drive will be conducted throughout November and will end on Dec. 17 when the Marines will come to pick up the toys," Mr. Holt said. Howe Caverns also will have change collection cans available for those who wish to donate funds to Toys for Tots. "All of the toys collected will remain in Schoharie County," said Mr. Holt, adding: "We hope to help put smiles on the faces of many little ones this holiday season." Howe Caverns' 10th Annual Veterans Salute gives past members of the Armed Forces the opportunity to take the Caverns' Traditional Tour at a $2 discount, with proof of service. For those members of the military on active duty, there will be free admission for the Traditional Tour from Nov. 7-Nov. 15, with proper identification. Regular prices for cavern tours are $18 for adults (ages 16-64), $15 for Juniors (ages 12-15) and Seniors (ages 65+), $10 for children (ages 5-11) - all plus tax.  Children ages 4 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. For those looking for a leisurely getaway, overnight accommodations and special packages are available in the on-site, AAA-rated Howe Caverns Motel.
