hunter-logo.jpgOver 40 open trails, terrain parks, West Side & snowmaking continues as temperatures stay low Hunter, N.Y. - Hunter Mountain opened on Sunday, December 5 with 5 trails and 1 lift. Ten days later, the resort has more than 40 trails open, with additional trails opening for the weekend including the expert terrain of Clair's Way and K27. After ten days open, as of December 15, Hunter has more open trails than any other New York ski resort: its terrain is 73% open. The resort also has two operational terrain parks, a fully functioning Learning Center with first-timer terrain, lessons, rentals and children's programs. Its snowtubing park will be opening next week for the Christmas holiday period. Resort management plans to be near 100% open for the Christmas period. "The Feeling Stays With You," Hunter's new advertising campaign, plus increased presence over social networks has garnered tremendous positive feedback from customers who have come to ski and ride thus far. Hunter's well-known moniker "The Snowmaking Capitol of the World" rings true decades after its inception: snowmaking is second to none.  The resort installed 150 new energy-efficient HKD snowguns and purchased an additional 50 for the 2011/12 season. Hunter has blasted its terrain and already has a base build of over 5 feet in key areas. With the 2010 installation of the first six-person high-speed detachable lift in New York State, Hunter has served its customers well in the early season...especially after receiving a whopping 4" of snow to date. Despite some wet weather last week, the resort's terrain was 100% recovered and resurfaced 24 hours. The longest and highest zipline & canopy tour in North America will be open on December 18th, further adding to the resort's offerings for guests throughout the US and world. "Weather has been on our side," explains Brian Czarnecki, Director of Marketing & Sales at Hunter Mountain. "Our reputation for snowmaking is well deserved; not to mention the other things we've had going on-the Kaatskill Flyer, New York Zipline Adventures, new snowguns and more. We've got a great holiday week coming up and a huge New Year's party. There's a lot to celebrate this season and we truly are giving our guests a December to Remember!"
