Albany, N.Y. (April 10) -  I LOVE NY today announced it partnered with the Ski Areas of NY (SANY) to host a day of outdoor activities for Eagle Academy students in an effort to expand opportunities for young New Yorkers and broaden the reach of its tourism campaign.  On Saturday, April 4, 30 students from the Eagle Academy for Young Men, an all-boys college preparatory school with locations across New York City, took to the slopes of Hunter Mountain as the guests of New York State's Division of Tourism/ I LOVE NY. The students enjoyed skiing lessons, courtesy of Ski Areas of NY (SANY) and Hunter Mountain's expert ski instructor staff.

"I LOVE NY is proud to serve as a positive force and help
support the mission of the Eagle Academy, giving these students the chance to discover and enjoy the natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains and the exciting tourism opportunities that await just two hours north of New York
City," said Empire State Development Division of Tourism Executive Director Gavin Landry. "It is a privilege to help broaden the horizons of future leaders by introducing them to some of New York's best tourism assets at a young age.  Our hope is that through this trip, we'll not only develop the next generation of skiers but inspire that whether it's our fantastic recreational opportunities or our rich history and culture."

"Conquering a mountain, even a small one, on skis, is not
only thrilling, it can be a huge confidence builder. It's also important for our younger generation to be exposed to the awe-inspiring beauty of nature. We are happy to have shared that with these students and are thankful to have Hunter Mountain as a partner in this initiative," said Scott Brandi, president of SANY.

Students, their families and teachers were invited to participate in the ski trip. The group traveled from Harlem by bus to Hunter Mountain, where they were treated to a ski rentals, lessons and lunch.

"We are very grateful to I LOVE NY and SANY for providing
this enriching experience for our students and are excited about partnering with them," said David C. Banks, president and CEO of the Eagle Academy Foundation. "Our mission is to develop young men committed to the pursuit of academic excellence, strong character and responsible leadership. The trip to Hunter Mountain was an amazing experience for our scholars and their families. The majority of the group were first time skiers and everyone took advantage of the opportunity to hit the slopes. This kind of experience is invaluable for our young men because it provides them
with extended learning opportunities that go beyond the classroom. We are so grateful for the experience and look forward to more adventures available to our young men right here in New York."

The Eagle Academy ski trip was a result of a meeting of the
Tourism Advisory Council (TAC), which was established to advise the Governor and provide input regarding the state's tourism efforts. Membership of the council includes representatives from tourism-related industries including travel and vacation businesses, convention bureaus, cultural institutions, theme parks and attractions, hotels and motels, restaurants, water-based recreation businesses, campgrounds, ski facilities, wineries, halls of fame, travel agents and transportation companies.
