stephen_triffitt.jpgEvent To Benefit The Northeast Parent & Child Society

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Get ready to relive the golden age of hep cats, cool crooners and magical melodies with “The Rat Pack – Live At The Sands,” playing at Proctors Theater - and italyMONDO! has paired an exclusive charitable pre-show wine tasting the nights of March 12-14 to accompany the award-winning production.   “We've decided to give back to our community, while celebrating our Italian-American heritage,” said italyMONDO! founder Peter Farina. “Our parents and grandparents were seduced by the Rat Pack and many of us grew up listening to Sinatra, Sammy and Dino.”   The event is being hosted to raise money for the Northeast Parent & Child Society. Tickets include an Italian wine tasting with hors d'oeuvres catered by the Aperitivo Bistro. “The wine tasting and appetizers will make this a truly Italian experience,” Farina said. “We've hand selected all of the wine and food to make sure that we've created as authentic an experience as possible.”   “The Rat Pack – Live At The Sands” is a Broadway-style tribute to the Rat Pack, whose members included Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, Dean Martin, and Joey Bishop, among others. “It's time to bring the vitality of Vegas to Schenectady, baby!” Farina said. “We'll do it our way.”   italyMONDO! is a local company that helps Italian Americans from coast to coast reconnect with their ancestral heritage. They specialize in researching Italian family histories, discovering relatives still living in the Old Country and acquiring dual Italian-American citizenship for eligible clients. But their most popular service are Heritage Tours, where clients walk in their ancestors’ footsteps and meet long-lost relatives on bespoke tours.   “Italian Americans, as a group, are very interested in their family legacy,” Farina said. “A huge part of where they are today and where they are going tomorrow is an understanding of where they came from.”     The Northeast Parent & Child Society aims to help abused and impoverished children by providing a sense of community, support and understanding.   “Fifty years ago, people in the local neighborhoods would help families and children who were facing a crisis,” Farina said. “This was particularly true in Italian-American communities. But over time, much of that neighborhood connection has been lost. The Northeast Parent & Child Society aims to bring back that tradition of neighbors helping neighbors. We are proud to support their cause and we want to help them reach their goals.”   Tickets to this exclusive event package are available in limited numbers only online at or through the italyMONDO! Box Office at (518) 705-5880.
