Kites Over the HudsonNewburgh, N.Y. - Soaring, swirling, kites of all kinds will bob and weave as they dance in the wind at Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site during Kites Over the Hudson, on Saturday, September 20th, 2 PM to 4 PM.

Free kites will be given to the first 150 children 15 and under during this Hudson River Ramble event. Prizes will be awarded in various kite categories, and refreshments will be served to all who attend. And there will be a Kite Hospital, staffed by members of Chapter 1782 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, to repair most kite catastrophes!

Watch kites spiral high above the Hudson River, see children scamper after colorful kites careening down the lawn towards the Tower of Victory. Bring some chairs, a picnic lunch, and your camera to record a memory-making day for all family members.

While at the site, take a tour of the historic farmhouse used by General and Mrs. Washington as military headquarters during the last 16 ½ months of the Revolutionary War. Visit our Museum featuring over 1,300 artifacts in the award-winning exhibit, "Unpacked & Rediscovered: Selections from Washington's Headquarters' Collection."

Admission to all activities at Washington's Headquarters on this special day is FREE, thanks to sponsorship from Central Hudson. Additional support for Kites Over the Hudson is provided by Friends of the State Historic Sites of the Hudson Highlands, and the Palisades Parks Conservancy.
