Highmount, N.Y. - President's Week Vacation is underway and the slopes of Belleayre are covered with skiers and riders enjoying the outrageously good conditions. And as February draws to a close, Belleayre is preparing for one of the best months - March and the return of Marchapalooza. Great snow, warm temps, soft bumps and relaxing on the Overlook deck in the sun are just a few of the highlights of spring skiing at Belleayre and there is nothing like it. The Belleayre calendar is packed with fun family events and great deals for everyone. The Mogul Mash, the Pine Hill Arms Triathlon, the Tailgate Competition, the Dummy Race, and Reggaefest Weekend are just a few of the many events Belleayre is looking forward to in one of our favorite months. Make plans to visit Belleayre for Marchapalooza as people ski and ride into Spring. Denis Germain Race - Saturday, February 26 In memory of fallen FDNY Firefighter Denis Germain, this memorial race is a fundraiser for the Denis Germain Foundation, giving scholarships to young, deserving ski racers. For just $25, receive a lift ticket for the day, race entry fee and event t-shirt. People who already have a ticket will pay $15 for the race entry fee and t-shirt. T-shirts alone will be $10. Registration is from 8 - 10 am in the Garden Room of the Overlook Lodge. All registration will be done day of the event. The race begins at 10:30 on Lower Yahoo. Helmets are required. Participants under the age of 18 need a parent or guardian signature to sign up. Potter Brothers Flex Days The next three Sundays, February 27, March 6 and March 13 are all Potter Brothers Flex Days. Buy your ticket at any Potter Brothers store for only $27.95. Please note that Potter Brothers Flex Tickets cannot be purchased at Belleayre Mountain and must be purchased at Potter Brothers stores. Adaptive Awareness Day - Sunday, February 27 Helen Hayes Hospital will be here raising money and educating the public about their Adaptive Sports Program. They will be teaching that individuals with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and other disabling conditions have the possibility of participating in a large variety of recreational activities. In addition they will be raising money to help provide equipment for the Belleayre Adaptive Snowsports program that is necessary for these inspiring people who refuse to give up and continue to live their dreams. Before purchasing your lift ticket go to the Helen Hayes table set up inside at both lodges. Donate $10 to Helen Hayes and receive a coupon for a $25 lift ticket. The $25 lift ticket coupon is limited to the first 200 people to donate to this great cause. Mogul Mash - Saturday, March 5 Don't miss this special mogul competition open to all ages that takes place on the Lower Wanatuska bumps. Contestants will be judged on the ability to ski bumps with rhythm, ability to stay in the fall line with the fewest deviations and overall technical ability. The entry fee is $10 per person and include cake and an event t-shirt for the first 125 participants. Preregister by picking up an entry forms are available at Belleayre Mountain Overlook Lodge Guest Services or register the day of the event in the Garden Room from 8-10am. Helmets are required. Participants under the age of 18 need a parent or guardian signature to sign up. Belleayre Mountain is a year-round outdoor recreation area in the Catskill Mountains operated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
