Who: The Miss New York Organization for Miss America, the Office of the Mayor, the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Albany-Regional Chamber of Commerce. What: A celebratory event to commemorate the Miss New York Pageant's move to Albany our contestants and the organization's newly formed partnerships with local businesses and associations. In addition to entertainment by Miss NewYork 2008 and third runner-up to Miss America , Leigh-Taylor Smith, wine and light hors d'oeuvres, there will also be a silent auction where attendees will have the chance to bid on Broadway show tickets, art, home décor, pageant memorabilia and much more. Where: The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Albany-City Center , which is located at 30 Lodge Street , Albany , NY 12207 . When: A special VIP hour, with remarks from the mayor, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009. The reception will then be open to the public beginning at 8:00 p.m. Why: In an effort to partner with local businesses and non-profits, the organization would like to have the opportunity to mix and mingle with the Albany community in advance of the state pageant on June 28, 2009. This will also give reporters the opportunity to interview key people associated with the pageant's move, including local politicians and officials, our organization's leaders, contestants and titleholders. The event is part of a weekend of festivities for contestants and pageant committees from across the state of New York .
