Lake Placid, NY - The road to Vancouver and the 2010 Winter Games continues to make its way through Lake Placid, N.Y. when 54 athletes from 13 countries compete in the FIS Continental Cup Nordic Combined event being held, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 19-20. Several countries, including the United States, will try to qualify athletes for February's Games. Eleven athletes from the U.S. will battle it out for two remaining Olympic team positions. Gottwald is a six-time Olympic medalist and eight-time world championship medalist, while Manninen has captured three Olympic medals, 45-career World Cup victories and six world championship medals. WHAT: FIS Continental Cup Nordic Combined racing, combining 90-meter ski jumping and Nordic skiing. WHEN: Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 19-20.
