hudson-highlands-museum.gif Mothers, Grandmothers and their families can explore Discovery Quest Trails Free-of-Charge on Saturday and Sunday, May 9 and 10 Cornwall, NY - To introduce Mothers, Grandmothers and their families to the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum's Discovery Quest trails, the Museum is inviting mothers, grandmothers and their families to enjoy a complementary Discovery Quest admission and one free Quest Guidebook per family on Saturday, and Sunday, May 9 and 10. The trails, located at the Museum's Outdoor Discovery Center, entrance on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall, are fun for all ages and abilities. They provide a unique, interactive way for people to spend time outdoors learning about the environment. This season, the museum introduces Quest Ranger Brandon Webb who comes to the museum with a wealth of experience as an environmental educator and naturalist. He will introduce each Quest and help choose an adventure!  At 12:30pm, each weekend, he will give a special "Ranger Talk." The Discovery Quests offer four different hiking adventures that can turn a day outdoors into a unique and memorable nature experience. The Quests challenge hikers to make twelve different nature discoveries on each trail. Using the guidebook, available for a nominal fee, hikers will explore the Hudson Highlands and make discoveries through a series of riddles, field notes, illustrations, and hands-on challenges. Visitors can test their knowledge of how well they really know the beautiful Highlands they enjoy every day. Quest hikes range from an easy, stroller-friendly trail to a more vigorous hike of nearly two miles - and all trails are well-marked. There's something for hikers of all abilities. The trails also cover a variety of habitats, from wetlands to meadows to forest, and provide wonderful opportunities to observe wildlife. Plus, there's a great picnic area to make a full day out of the adventure. The Museum's Discovery Quests are a low-cost, high-impact opportunity for families, and anyone who enjoys being outdoors, to spend quality time discovering nature. To redeem their complementary admission, mothers and grandmothers should bring their families to the Discovery Quest Visitor's Center on Saturday or Sunday, May 9 & 10. Quest Guidebooks, which can easily be shared, are free (one per family) at the Visitor's Center. Each additional Guidebook is only $5. Come with your family and friends to enjoy a nature break in the beauty of the Hudson Highlands. Throughout the spring and summer, the Discovery Quest trails are open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Try just one, and you'll soon be back to complete all four.
