Consumers Who Book Two Nights, Get Third Free at 250 Participating AccommodationsNEW YORK - New Yorkers are encouraged to stay in-state when traveling this summer, and take advantage of I Love New York statewide travel deals for consumers seeking a stress-free getaway this summer season. Hundreds of lodging properties, including privately-owned campgrounds, will take part in I LOVE NEW YORK's popular ‘book two nights, get the third night free' offer available at www.iloveny.com/summer.
Last year's inaugural I Love New York third-night free summer promotion resulted in more than 8,000 room nights sold and helped drive more than $6.5 million in direct revenue for the State. This year's campaign supports the tourism industry by giving consumers in the region another reason to take their summer getaway in New York State.
The state is again partnering with Amtrak and Enterprise Rent-A-Car to make summer travel in New York more convenient and affordable. Travelers can save 20 percent on fares to all New York State destinations served by Amtrak and/or receive a five percent discount on Enterprise car rentals at Amtrak and MTA Metro North Railroad station stops. Guests can make reservations as well as utilize Enterprise's "We'll Pick You Up" service at participating stations, which makes getting away to New York State easy and environmentally responsible.
"New York State has something for everyone. From the beauty and tranquility of the great outdoors to the vibrancy of our cities; New York features unique destinations, stunning scenery and exciting adventures," said Governor Paterson. "This summer we are offering the perfect antidote by making it easy and affordable for all travelers, including the more than 80 million people who live within a three-to-five hour drive of New York State, to take that much needed summer break. We are once again encouraging New Yorkers and visitors to experience our wide variety of getaway opportunities and find another reason to Love New York."
"New York State continues to be a great choice for vacationers, no matter what their interests. Whether it's touring through the Finger Lakes, lounging by the sea shore on Long Island or living it up in one of our great cities, New York is the place for you" said Dennis Mullen of Empire State Development. "A free third night stay, combined with special offers across the state, makes this a summer getaway you can't afford to pass up."
Vacationers can choose from a range of offerings, including rustic cabins, Victorian bed and breakfasts, world-class hotels, family lodges and even campgrounds.
Dan Murphy, president of the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association, said: "This offer is just what budget-strapped consumers looking for well-deserved relaxation need this summer. Our lodging partners are enthusiastic about doing everything they can to remove any hesitation potential vacationers may have about traveling."
New York State has developed a user-friendly, dedicated website for the summer promotion on its tourism site at www.iloveny.com/summer. The site provides a one-stop guide to participating hotels, state parks, historic sites and other activities, including thousands of destinations and unique events that make it easy to plan a getaway across the 11 regions of the state. For travelers wishing to enjoy New York State's award-winning state park system - which includes 178 state parks, 36 historic sites, 55 forest preserve areas and other outdoor attractions - the site's interactive state park map makes planning an outdoor adventure a cinch.
The site also contains participating Amtrak stations and Enterprise Rent-A-Car outlets to eliminate the stress of planning those aspects of a getaway. Travelers can create a custom brochure tailored to their personal interests, easily find and reserve lodging that meets their needs from a wide variety of accommodations, including state- and privately-owned campgrounds.
Campground Owners of New York (CONY), a trade association promoting the growth, improvement and development of privately owned campgrounds, will have 40 of its member campgrounds participating in the summer offer along with 4-8 independent campgrounds.
"Camping is a wallet-friendly option for summer accommodations that many travelers are considering for the first time," said Scott Sherwood, president of the Campground Owners of New York.
