Jones Store RemsenUtica, N.Y. - The first settlers of the rugged wilderness that became the towns of Remsen and Steuben were hearty pioneers, Welsh immigrants, and a famous Revolutionary War hero. The untamed forest of Oneida County proved challenging, but not insurmountable for Remsen's first settlers. The Oneida County History Center is pleased to present author and journalist Megan Plete Postol, who will share the history and images of the area of Remsen, Steuben, and Hinkley in a virtual program on Wednesday May 12 at 6:30 PM.

Megan Plete Postol is a reporter and photographer for local area newspapers the Boonville Herald and Rome Sentinel.  Megan is a lifelong resident of the Remsen who has a deep sense of hometown pride and commitment to the area. Copies of her book Around Remsen and Steuben are available at the OCHC in our bookstore.
