NYS Parks Recreation Historic PreservationYonkers, N.Y.  (11/18/22) – After being closed for 18 months, Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site in downtown Yonkers has re-opened to the public. The site is open Wednesday-Sunday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. It will be closed for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, but will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday November 25, 26, and 27, 2022 for Thanksgiving weekend.

The new exhibit, “Our Whole History” introduces visitors to an immersive, interactive experience where they will learn about the confluence of cultures in early Colonial New York, the commerce that dominated the colony, and the individuals who made their marks on history from the earliest days of first contact to the end of the American Revolution and beyond. In addition to hands-on, touchable elements, interactive digital screens, and augmented reality inside the museum, a “virtual wing” hosted online allows visitors on-site and off to learn even more about the rich stories, histories, and primary sources used in the exhibit.

The exhibit is self-guided but guided tours are available at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm, and 3:00 pm each day. Tours are limited to 10 people per tour. Reservations are recommended, especially for larger groups. Call 914-965-4027 to make a reservation. Admission to the museum is $6 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, children 12 and under are free.

Just for kids! A special children’s scavenger hunt is included with admission – fun for the whole family.

In addition to new exhibits and the accessibility wing with elevator and restrooms, Philipse Manor Hall also offers a new gift shop with unique gifts made by artisans in New York, Africa, and the Netherlands, along with local history books, greeting cards, souvenirs, children’s toys, and more.
