Close out PRIDE Month with a visit to the Keith Haring Exhibit at the Fenimore Art Museum
Cooperstown, N.Y. – Anyone who shows a piece of rainbow flare, be it a clothing item, a keychain or anything else at the admission kiosk for both The Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum will receive $2 off a regular adult admission, good for the day of June 30. (Young people, 19 and under, are admitted free to Fenimore through September 6.) Museum hours are 10am-5pm. All are welcome to gather on the patio at the Fenimore Art Museum for a mini meet-n-greet from 4:00-5:00pm.
About the new Keith Haring exhibition at Fenimore Art Museum:
Joyful. Defiant. An icon of the LGBTQ community. The late artist Keith Haring’s work embodied these words and Keith Haring: Radiant Vision at Fenimore Art Museum is introducing a new generation to the vibrant world he created. The exhibition features an extensive collection of over 100 works from a private collection including lithographs, silkscreens, drawings on paper, and posters, representing the full arc of Haring’s short but prolific career. In its entirety, it serves as a tribute to this iconic artist and his dedication to social justice and the betterment of youth worldwide.
Haring’s work reflects his fervent activism and democratic beliefs. He spent his career making posters, public art, and charitable commissions in support of nuclear de-escalation, civil rights, child welfare, and AIDS aware-ness, among other vital efforts. These causes informed his murals and massive wall paintings, leading one prominent critic to liken his work to “contemporary history paintings” chronicling the major social justice issues of the late twentieth century. A passionate advocate for social justice, he established The Keith Haring Foundation in 1989. Today, in his honor, the Foundation continues to fight for child welfare and lobby for care, education, and research surrounding AIDS.

About The Farmers’ Museum:
The Farmers’ Museum in historic Cooperstown is much more than a traditional museum. Celebrating its 78th season, it is one of the oldest living history museums in the country. Situated near picturesque Otsego Lake in a beautiful rural setting, the Museum provides visitors with a unique opportunity to experience 19th-century rural and village life first-hand through demonstrations and interpretative exhibits for all ages. You’ll find a recreated country village (circa 1845), the Empire State Carousel (reopening July 1), and a working farmstead complete with heritage livestock. The Museum also preserves important examples of upstate New York architecture including a working blacksmith shop, print shop, pharmacy, general store, and tavern.
