Schweinfurth Fall Adult ClassesAuburn, NY – Schweinfurth Art Center is accepting registrations for its fall adult classes, which cover drawing, ceramics, and watercolors. Anyone age 16 and older can sign up for the classes, which meet at the art center.

Fall Drawing Workshop

This two-day, all level workshop led by teaching artist Warner Varno meets Sept. 9 and 10. The first day will cover techniques such as shading, burnishing, and blending with various media. The second day will feature layering the first day’s drawings onto a prepared surface.

DATES: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday Sept. 8 and 9, 2023, with 1-hour break for lunch at noon

COST: $180 for Schweinfurth members, $190 for nonmembers

 

Fall Wheel Throwing with Mike Hughes

In this eight-week series, students will learn foundational skills for throwing pots on the wheel, including centering, basic throwing techniques, trimming, glazing, and more. While this class is geared toward beginners, students who have some introductory skills that they wish to expand on are welcome.

DATES: 2 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays Sept. 19 to Nov. 7, 2023

COST: $285 for Schweinfurth members, $295 for nonmembers

Fundamentals of Watercolor

This six-week series is designed for those who want to begin watercolor and more experienced painters who want to work on fundamentals. Teaching artist Eric Shute will cover applying washes, mixing colors, working with gray scales, and learning to paint a simple still life or scenes from a photo reference.

DATES: 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays Oct. 3 to Nov. 7, 2023

COST: $180 for Schweinfurth members, $190 for nonmembers
