Old Rhinebeck AerodromeRhinebeck, NY (January 14, 2020) – The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome announces that it has received a $100,000 grant from the Disosway Foundation to fund a professional study for purposes of upgrading the Aerodrome’s museum, hangars, grounds and support spaces.  The study, which starts immediately, will produce a Comprehensive Master Plan to position the Aerodrome for future development and help make it into a premiere tourist destination in the Hudson Valley for visitors from around the world.  The Master Plan will be followed by a capital campaign to fund implementation.
            
Aerodrome President, Michael DiGiacomio says, “This generous donation comes at an important time.  We have been working on a long-range plan to better house, display, and fly our collection. Now, a respected consultant will be guiding us to take our initiatives to the next level.”
 
The LA Group, based in Saratoga Springs, will provide the Aerodrome with a Master Plan to improve the visitor experience, museum infrastructure and daily operations. The plan will examine the topography of the site, improve logistics, accessibility, address sustainability, and determine capital and ongoing costs. The LA Group has worked on similar projects with many organizations, including Olana State Historic Site, West Point Military Academy, Arlington National Cemetery, New York State Olympic Development Authority, and Niagara Falls State Park.
 
The Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum/Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is a 501 c 3 non-profit Museum, chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, dedicated to preserving, restoring and flying aircraft of the Pioneer, WWI, and Golden Ages of aviation.  The Museum houses approximately 70 vintage aircraft, antique historic automobiles and artifacts spanning the period from dawn of flight through the “Golden Age” of Aviation, or 1939.
