Celebrate with your favorite Seneca Lake wine!
Watkins Glen, NY – Drink Local Wine Week began in 2008 as a grassroots effort of wine bloggers and writers who were seeking to promote local wine from areas that may be thought of as under the radar. Now, more than ever, it is important to support local wineries, and “Drink Local Wine Week” (October 11 – 17, 2020), gives you the perfect opportunity to do so!
If you want to visit and show your support in person, wineries on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail remain open, safe, and compliant with all rules and regulations. The slower pace of seated tastings and flight-style service has been a welcome change for visitors. Visitors are encouraged to review winery visitation policies, make reservations where required (or recommended), and follow all pandemic-related guidelines including wearing a mask unless seated and maintaining social distance. For complete details on planning a visit, the Wine Trail maintains a helpful summary page titled Current Winery Offerings on its website: www.senecalakewine.com.
If you prefer to keep your distance, that’s okay, too. And with today’s technology, it couldn’t be easier to still get the wine you love, while staying safe at home. Simply visit your favorite winery’s website or give them a call to place your order. You can have it shipped to your home or arrange for curbside pickup and enjoy contactless pickup at the winery.
Seneca Lake Wine Trail Executive Director Brittany Gibson shares, “Wine is a key industry and important economic driver for the state, region, and local cities and towns. But it’s so much more than that. Wine is a way of life. It’s part of our meals, our celebrations, and a reason to gather with friends and family. We encourage you to support your favorite local wineries during Drink Local Wine Week, and any other chance you get!”
