Granville, NY – The Slate Valley Museum is welcoming back The Traveling Paints to partner on a series of evening art experiences, Sip & Paint on Slate, Colors of the Seasons. Over the course of the next seven months, the Museum will offer four events, each highlighting a different season and through that a different color of Slate Valley slate as its foundation.
“We are celebrating our 25th anniversary,” comments Interim Director Sarah Kijowski, “Part of what we wanted to focus on this year is slate as a material, and to offer reminders of some of the things that make our slate unique. Primary among them is the breadth of colors that occur here. It seemed like a natural fit to create a series that incorporates not just one color, but several of them.”
The first Sip & Paint of 2021 will focus on creating a colorful spring scene on green slate. Attendees will be led by an instructor from The Traveling Paints in making their own painting, all while sipping and enjoying the company of other aspiring artists.
The event will be held on Friday, May 21 from 7-9pm. Pre-registration is required. Tickets are $40 per person and include all art materials, one beverage ticket, and light snacks. Drinks will include wine and a selection of non-alcoholic options. Anyone planning to consume alcoholic beverages should come prepared to show valid ID.
The Museum is also offering a discounted rate of $35 per person for people who sign up for the entire Sip & Paint series. The remainder of the events will include a summer scene in July on purple slate, a fall scene in late September on red slate, and a winter scene in late November on gray slate.
Space is limited. Those interested in registering can visit the Museum’s website at www.SlateValleyMuseum.org, locate the event on the calendar, and download a registration form. You can also call the Museum at 518-642-1417 or email Wendy at associate@slatevalleymuseum.org.
Given the ongoing pandemic, attendees should note that the setup may differ from previous paint and sip events. They should be prepared to comply with measures that are in place to ensure safety and comfort for all who participate. Masks will be required when not eating or drinking, artwork stations will be located an optimal distance apart, and temperature checks will be performed before entry. When possible, the Museum will also open doors and windows to enhance ventilation.
The Slate Valley Museum is located at 17 Water Street in Granville, NY. More information is available on its website, www.SlateValleyMuseum.org. The Museum also has pages on Facebook and Twitter.
