Summer at the National Museum of Play at The Strong® is filled with family fun: Saturday, June 22-Sunday, September 8: Atari by Design: From Concept to Creation. Explore the creative thinking behind the finished designs of some of the most popular video arcade games of all time-including Gauntlet, Street Fighter, Gran Trak 10, Red Baron, and Gotcha. Check out classic arcade machine cabinets and the preliminary designs, drawings, and sketches that went into their creation, as well as some of the fliers and advertising materials used to promote their sale. Saturday, June 29-permanent: Wegmans Super Kids Market. The museum's most popular exhibit reopens bigger-and even better-thanks to additional support from Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. Check out the all-new Market Café-complete with prepared meals, a sushi bar, and a coffee bar. An expanded toddler area has been transformed into a miniature organic farm including a scarecrow, vegetable garden, and pretend tractor. Little shoppers can still cruise the aisles with child-sized shopping carts; work at deli, meat, seafood, and bakery departments; make brick-oven pizzas; and scan bar-coded products at working check-out counters. Enjoy opening day festivities on Saturday, June 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 4-Monday, September 2: Summer of Farewell Parades. Join in a festive, musical march throughout the museum galleries at the end of each day-a rousing way to conclude a visit! Saturday, July 6-Sunday, September 8: Boardwalk Arcade. Step right up to good, old summertime fun at an original new exhibit that invites guests to experience the fun and excitement of seaside amusements from a bygone era. On opening weekend, CirqOvation! presents their hilarious brand of circus entertainment including amazing feats of stilt walking and juggling. Enjoy strolling entertainment by street musicians and other artists who perform throughout museum galleries. Tuesday, July 16, 2-3 p.m.: Rochester Rhinos Meet and Greet. Meet and pose for photographs with a member of the Rochester Rhinos soccer team and mascot Rex. Tuesday, July 23 & Thursday, August 22, 11 a.m.-noon.: Rochester Red Wings Meet and Greets. Meet Rochester Red Wings baseball team mascot Spikes and pose for pictures.
