Grounding CeremonyDecember is last chance to see acclaimed exhibition "Paula Wilson: Toward the Sky’s Back Door"

Saratoga Springs, NY (December 15, 2023) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College will be open during College’s winter break. Through Jan. 21, the Tang Teaching Museum will be open Tuesday–Sunday, noon–5 pm, except for Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31).

December is the last chance to see the exhibitions Unset Texts and Paula Wilson: Toward the Sky’s Back Door; both close Dec. 30.

The exhibitions Yvette Molina: A Promise to the Leaves on the mezzanine, Elevator Music 47: Xenometok for Mutualism, an audio and video installation in the Tang elevator, and Hyde Cabinet #23: Contre Le Sexism, a small cabinet for student curatorial projects, will be on view throughout the winter break.

In January, other galleries will be closed as we prepare three new exhibitions—Abject Anatomy, Isaac Julien: Lessons of the Hour, and Studio/Archive—and get ready for an opening reception celebration on Saturday, February 10, at 5 pm.

Regular hours resume Jan. 23. Regular hours are Tuesday–Sunday, noon–5 pm, with extended hours until 9 pm on Thursday.

Admission to the museum is free. For more information, call the Tang Visitors Services Desk at 518-580-8080 or visit https://tang.skidmore.edu.

About the Tang Teaching Museum

The Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College is a pioneer of interdisciplinary exploration and learning. A cultural anchor of New York’s Capital Region, the Tang’s approach has become a model for college and university art museums across the country—with exhibition programs that bring together visual and performing arts with interdisciplinary ideas from history, economics, biology, dance, and physics, to name just a few. The Tang has one of the most rigorous faculty-engagement initiatives in the nation, and a robust publication and touring exhibition program that extends the museum’s reach far beyond its walls. The Tang Teaching Museum’s award-winning building, designed by architect Antoine Predock, serves as a visual metaphor for the convergence of art and ideas. https://tang.skidmore.edu
