empire-state-quarter-horse-assn2.pngSyracuse, N.Y. -- Eight hundred of the best registered American Quarter Horses in the country will trot into town next week for the Empire Fall Show, held September 18-22 at the New York State Fairgrounds.  In 2012, this horse show was among the largest Quarter Horse shows in North America, bringing thousands of visitors and a $4.8 million economic boost to the Syracuse community, according to the American Quarter Horse Association's Economic Impact Formula.  Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 18 and running through Sunday, Sept. 22, talented and versatile Quarter Horses will be competing in a variety of Western and English events in the Coliseum.  Difficult obstacle courses in Trail events will challenge even the most highly trained horses while hundreds of horses and riders compete in Western Pleasure and Horsemanship and Showmanship.  The most beautiful horses will show off their physiques in Halter classes in front of five judges, vying for the coveted Grand Champion award for each sex.  Hundreds more horses will perform before the judges in English events, such as Jumping, Working Hunter and Hunter Under Saddle.  Sponsored by the Empire State Quarter Horse Association, the highlights of the show include Sweepstakes classes which will award thousands of dollars in money and prizes to those who are crowned the champions.  Numerous horse-related vendors will set up their mobile stores and tack shops in the Coliseum's parking lot, offering saddles, bridles, fancy show clothing, hats, boots, embroidery, silk-screening and jewelry.  Admission to the show is free for spectators and everyone is invited to enjoy the excitement of watching the finest American Quarter Horses in the country compete in over 120 different events.  Show hours begin at       7 a.m. and continue well into the evening until each day's events are completed.   For more information, please contact Larry Jaynes at (607) 742-9135 or wmffarm@gmail.com.
