Thomasina-WinslowSaratoga Springs, NY (July 27, 2021) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College presents the critically acclaimed Americana and blues musician Thomasina Winslow as part of the Upbeat on the Roof concert series on Thursday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m.

Winslow is a staple of the Capital Region music community, performing regularly at the Clearwater Great Hudson River Revival for over a decade. She has performed since age 4, first with her father, Tom Winslow, a regular collaborator of folk icon Pete Seeger. A virtuosic performer, Winslow also works as a music educator and producer. Delta blues and folk stand out as the most prominent influences on Winslow's music, though she takes inspiration from across the musical world: funk, Afropop, and even Eric Clapton all find their way on her long list of influences.

This summer’s Upbeat on the Roof concerts will take place on the Tang lawn near the campus outdoor volleyball courts. Visitors are welcome to bring blankets, chairs, and coolers, and are advised to arrive early as capacity is limited. Free parking is available off Perimeter Road, next to the museum. In case of rain, the event will be canceled.

The Upbeat on the Roof concert series, now in its twentieth season, features an eclectic mix of musicians from across the Capital Region. The series continues with Sun is Poison (Aug 12) and Heavenly Echoes (Aug 19).

About the Tang Teaching Museum

The Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College is a pioneer of interdisciplinary exploration and learning. A cultural anchor of New York’s Capital Region, the Tang’s approach has become a model for university art museums across the country—with exhibition programs that bring together visual and performing arts with interdisciplinary ideas from history, economics, biology, dance, and physics to name just a few. The Tang has one of the most rigorous faculty-engagement initiatives in the nation, and a robust publication and touring exhibition program that extends the museum’s reach far beyond its walls. The Tang Teaching Museum’s award-winning building, designed by architect Antoine Predock, serves as a visual metaphor for the convergence of art and ideas. The Museum is open to the public Thursday through Sunday, Noon to 5 p.m. http://tang.skidmore.edu.
