Rochester N.Y. - Producers John Nugent and Marc Iacona today announced three more headliner shows for the nine-day 14th edition Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival (XRIJF) June 19-27. Trumpet legend Herb Alpert and Lani Hall; WHEELS OF SOUL - Summer Tour 2015 with Tedeschi Trucks Band and very special guests Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings plus Doyle Bramhall II, and the Steep Canyon Rangers join previously announced headliners Diana Krall, Jennifer Hudson and Gary Clark Jr. The Steep Canyon Rangers previously played at XRIJF with Steve Martin at four sold-out shows.
All concerts are at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. Times vary. Tickets for the just added shows go on sale Friday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m. online only at rochesterjazz.com. TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND
When Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi decided three years ago to dispense with their much-loved individual bands and pool their talents, they had no way of knowing what the public reaction might be to the new hybrid. They found out quickly enough when Revelator, Tedeschi Trucks Band's 2011 studio debut, excited their sizable, devoted fan bases and the movers and shakers of the music industry alike, landing TTB both a Best Blues Album Grammy and a Blues Music Award for Album of the Year. In the three years since the last release, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings have played major festivals, arenas and clubs all over the world including The Hollywood Bowl, The Sydney Opera House and multiple sold-out nights at the Apollo Theater in New York City. DOYLE BRAMHALL II
Doyle Bramhall II stands as one of the most distinctive vocalists, guitarists, composers and producers in contemporary music. Eric Clapton, with whom Bramhall II has collaborated for more than a decade, cites the guitarist as one of the most gifted players he has ever encountered. Bramhall II was raised in a home filled with the blues and rock & roll sounds that are indigenous to Texas; the state of his birth. STEEP CANYON RANGERS
From Asheville, NC, Steep Canyon Rangers are an acoustic Bluegrass group. In 2013 the band's 8th record "Nobody Knows You" won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album. Before embarking on a world tour backing comedian/banjoist Steve Martin, the Rangers were also nominated for 2 International Bluegrass Music awards including Album of the Year "Lovin' Pretty Women" (2007). The group performs heavily in the Bluegrass and Americana music world at festivals like MerleFest, Telluride, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Grey Fox, DelFest and RockyGrass.
