Kelly Carey – TACC Office Administrator & Farmers Market Manager and June Curtis – Farmers Market Advisor.Ticonderoga, NY (July 1, 2020) The Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) is excited to announce that the 2020 season for the Ticonderoga Area Farmers Market will start on Saturday July 11th and run through September 26th. The market will operate on Saturdays from 10AM to 1PM at Wicker Wood (1114 Wicker Street) near the Walmart entrance and across from Christopher Chevrolet Buick. Parking is available in the back of property after entering.

During this unprecedented time, farmers have continued to plant seeds, tend livestock, make repairs, package products and continue their hard work and resourcefulness to get food to market. COVID-19 underscores their importance in strong local food accessibility and supporting the local economy.

“Fortunately, our Ticonderoga Area Farmers Market is open-air, vendor booths are widespread over a large grassy area and our consumers are not crowded in space. Our market will follow the guidance of the NYS Agriculture and Markets which introduces new regulations. Consumers are required to wear face masks, respect physical distancing and refrain from handling produce/products. Our staff members will wear gloves and masks, maintain distancing and disinfect surfaces frequently. Even during these difficult times, we are planning for the future of the market. We are thrilled to announce that our TACC Office Administrator as also taken on the role of the Farmers Market Manager”, stated Matt Courtright, Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce CEO

The Chamber is pleased to officially announce that Kelly Carey from the Chamber will be the market manager. Kelly has been working behind the scenes to obtain NYS authorization, recruit farmers, plan for the weeks ahead and will be on site when the market opens in July to insure viability and safety. She has also been working closely with the Ticonderoga Area Farmers Market Advisor, June Curtis who without her dedication, guidance, and assistance the market would not be possible.

“I am excited to expand my role within the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce and take on the position of Farmers Market Manager. I truly look forward to working closely with the farmers, vendors, attendees, and of course the market committee. I would like to thank June Curtis for her unweaving support of the market and the Chamber, training me, and for being an outstanding example of community service. I will continue to work closely with June and the Chamber not only for the 2020 market but our future plans and changes for the market,” commented Kelly Carey – TACC Office Administrator and Farmers Market Manager.

The Ticonderoga Area Farmers Market is now recruiting farmers and vendors. If you produce a quality food product that is locally grown or farm raised, you may be interested in participating in the Farmers Market. Farmers are required to grow 50 percent of the fruits and vegetables they offer. All products must be local (produced within a 100-mile radius of Ticonderoga including Vermont). If you are hesitant to commit to the full season, a flexible schedule is readily offered to encourage participation.

Note the Farmers Market will be Downtown Ticonderoga in coordination with StreetFest and FallFest 2020 on Saturday, September 26th.
