washington headquartersNewburgh, NY (July 14, 2020) – Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site will be opening its buildings to the public again.

Since the onset of Covid-19 guidelines that restrict access to public interior spaces, the magnificent grounds, and “Around the Grounds,” a self-guided outdoor tour of the Site, have been the only offerings.

Starting July 8th, both the Museum, which features over 1,300 objects from the collection, and the historic Hasbrouck House, where the General made his headquarters for 16 ½ months at the end of the Revolutionary War, will be open for visitors on a limited basis:

  • Wednesday – Saturday 11 am – 5 pm
  • Sunday 1pm – 5 pm

In order to facilitate proper social distancing, reservations will be required to visit inside the buildings.  The grounds, and the self-guided tour of our outdoor features will still be available.

Washington’s Headquarters’ staff are committed to keeping visitors healthy and safe by keeping public areas clean.  Visitors are advised that face coverings must be worn inside the buildings, and 6-foot social distancing is required.  Visitors will be asked to use hand sanitizer and to avoid touching common surfaces. Visitors experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms may not enter the buildings.
