Lake Placid, N.Y. - One of the Adirondack Mountains most time-honored properties opens for the 2012 season on Friday, May 4, as the Whiteface Club and Resort Golf Course welcomes players for its 114th year. Located on the shores of Lake Placid and part-owned by the AAA Four Diamond Mirror Lake Inn, the unique layout presents an enjoyable and scenic round of golf for men and women, highlighted by a stunning view of Whiteface Mountain from the sixth tee. The track is not among the longest, but rewards the straight shooter. The Whiteface Club was a recent site of the New York State Senior Women's Amateur Championship; the 2011 Sunbelt Senior Tour; is set to host the J. Peter Martin Whiteface Open July 14-15, 2012; and is looking forward to the return of the Sunbelt Senior Tour Aug. 28-31, 2012. Pre-season rates are in effect and carts will be allowed on the course. In addition, until June 24, the Café on the Green, adjacent to the practice green, will be available for lunch Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 - 3 PM. The restaurant, in an Adirondack motif, will remain open serving your favorite beverage until 4 PM. Hours will be extended beginning June 25. Later in May, the resort's Tennis Center, led by instructor Mike Kirchner, will open, and the marina will offer lessons in sailing, canoeing and kayaking in June.
