Colorful Peak Foliage Expected in Northern Catskills, Parts of Chautauqua-Allegheny and Adirondacks Regions

Many Other Upstate Areas Ranging from Midpoint of Change to Near-Peak

View Reports Below

This is the fifth 2024 I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report for New York State. Reports are obtained from volunteer field observers and reflect expected color conditions for the coming weekend. Reports are issued every Wednesday afternoon. I LOVE NY defines "peak" as the best overall appearance the foliage will have during the season, taking into account color transition, brilliance, and leaf droppage.

Colorful peak foliage is making its way out of the higher elevations of the Adirondacks and into its outlying areas, while gorgeous peak foliage expands throughout much of the northern Catskills. Peak foliage will also arrive in the southwestern portion of the Finger Lakes and much of the southern portion of the Chautauqua-Allegheny region. Leaves in other parts of Upstate New York will generally range from midpoint of change to near-peak, and will still be in the early stages of transition in the lower Hudson Valley, throughout New York City and on Long Island. This is according to the field reports from more than 85 volunteer observers for the Empire State Development Division of Tourism’s I LOVE NY program.
