Details

An official Path Through History Site! Fraunces Tavern Museum was built in 1719 and purchased in 1762 by tavern-keeper Samuel Fraunces, who turned it into one of the most popular taverns of the day. It was here in 1783 that General George Washington gave his farewell address to the officers of the Continental Army. Visitors can see the museum's collections of artifacts, paintings, drawings, and documents related to the Colonial, Revolutionary, and early Federal periods of American history, with a focus on New York.
