An official Path Through History Site! The Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park landscape was designed by the Fredrick Law Olmstead design firm, who later became famous for designing Manhattan's Central Park and Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Located on the Connetquot River, this park has 690 acres of lawns and open meadows, a wildflower garden, a marshy refuge, and many paths for walking and bird watching. Look for cardinals, catbirds, chickadees, and migrant birds in the fall and spring along five nature trails. Waterfowl can be seen on the river along with an active osprey nest. The English Tudor-style manor house features fireplaces, antique woodwork, and Tiffany-stained windows. A cafe is located in the library.
