Path Through History Weekend

Discover the people and places that shaped American history

Path Through History brings to life New York State History. During Path Through History Weekends, held every June and October, a wealth of memorable experiences awaits you—from living history museums to forts and military landmarks to the homes of presidents, legendary writers and artists, and activists who fought to end slavery and to give women the right to vote. Sites across the state invite visitors to experience costumed reenactments, hand-on demonstrations, immersive events, performances and special exhibits, all exploring New York's rich and fascinating history. Discover events of the past and learn how they reverberate today.

Explore even more events across the state focusing on New York State's vital role in our country’s journey to independence as our nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States in 2026. Historical attractions, sites, and other organizations in New York State can invite visitors to explore our collective history by submitting 250 Commemoration events to be featured on the calendar.
