National Historic Site. Working lock model. Original canal locks #16-20 of the D&H Canal. A Path Through History attraction. The D&H Canal Historical Society maintains a Canal Museum and Five Locks Walk trail to preserve canal-era artifacts, and document the canal’s creation, operation, and importance as an engine of economic development in the region and beyond. The Museum contains original artifacts from the canal era, as well as a replica of a canal boat cabin and a working model of a lock. The Five Locks Walk trail follows the canal towpath past the remains of locks with intact stonework that was so precisely cut, it required no mortar.
