Dwarf Pine Plains Preserve is named for the dwarf trees in the preserve. This unique ecosystem is frequented by uncommon wildlife species such as black-throated green warbler, American kestrels, marsh hawks, screech owls, northern saw-whet, and long-eared owls. Directions: Take route 27 to county road 31 south toward Westhampton. The trail head is located about 1/10 of a mile off of the exit on the east side of county road 31, turn left into the SCWA complex.
