The Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame is the community’s way of recognizing and paying tribute to Central New Yorkers who have made significant contributions to the world of sports. The word "Greater'" in the Hall of Fame official name, not only refers to the geographic focus, it describes the key goal and purpose they share as an organization and as a community. The Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit, all volunteer organization comprised of 35 committee members with 10 executive committee members who process all of the nominations for consideration into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame. Final selection of inductees is made through majority committee vote and endorsement of the executive committee. Exhibit showcases athletic artifacts including the very first NBA 24-second clock, internationally-acclaimed photography, videos, and stories of local legends.
