Hannum House

Details

The newly-renamed Hannum House has been transformed into a luxury retreat with five guest rooms. Most desirable for its unmatched views of and access to Skaneateles Lake, the Hannum House is prominently positioned next to the Sherwood Inn at the corner of scenic Route 20 and Hannum Street in Skaneateles. It was first built as the home of Spencer Hannum, president of the Skaneateles Village Board from the 1840 through the 1860s; and then served as the home of Norman Orlando Shepard, a prominent local businessman and community leader who also served as Village President in the 1890s and early 20th century. The Hannum House has recently been added to the National Register of Historic Places – the nation's official list of properties worthy of preservation. This listing recognizes the importance of the Hannum House property in the history of the village of Skaneateles and the history of the country.
