Holland Land Office Museum



An official Path Through History Site! The Holland Land Office Museum in Batavia is the site of the original 1815 Holland Land Company Office, where 3.3 million acres of Western New York land were surveyed and sold, giving it the moniker "The Birthplace of Western New York." Exhibits include the history of the Holland Land Purchase and Joseph Ellicott, military collection and the gallows used for public executions during the 19th century. Ever changing exhibits featuring the museum’s 23,000 piece collection celebrate the history and culture of Genesee County and Western New York. The exhibits are displayed throughout the museum’s five exhibit spaces. The museum is also open for research featuring an extensive research library. Holland Land Office Museum also hosts public events like Guest Speakers, trivia, concerts, and other education programming.
