James Baird State Park has much to offer on its 590 acres. There is a playground, as well as a sports complex where visitors can enjoy playing basketball, softball, tennis and volleyball. Outdoor enthusiasts will find seven miles of scenic wooded trails ideal for hiking or, when there's snow, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. There are spacious open and wooded picnic areas and two picnic pavilions which can accommodate as many as 300 people each (advance reservations required). The park also features a Robert Trent Jones designed 18-hole golf course and a full-service restaurant, Eighteen by Copolla's, which is open to the public. Find easy access to the park from either the Taconic State Parkway (1 mile north of Rt. 55) or via Freedom Road.
