An official Path Through History Site! The Long Island Explorium is a vibrant Children's Science Museum located in the historic waterfront village of Port Jefferson. As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and a chartered member of the New York State Department of Education, the Explorium is committed to advancing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) education in creative and meaningful ways. At the Long Island Explorium, curiosity comes alive through interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and engaging educational programs designed for children and families. Our mission is to ignite a passion for discovery, inspiring young minds to embrace innovation and build resilience. Through our signature "fail forward" philosophy, we teach the value of learning through experimentation, teamwork, and creativity, empowering kids to confidently navigate challenges. We’re more than just a museum—we're Long Island's Family Maker Space! Our exhibits and programs encourage collaboration and exploration, from environmental conservation and engineering to art and technology. Every year, we proudly host the Maker Faire Long Island, a dynamic celebration of creativity and invention.
