New Windsor Cantonment State Historic Site

An official Path Through History Site! New Windsor Cantonment commemorates the final encampment of the Continental Army during the American Revolution and celebrates the 7.500 soldiers who stayed here. The site features a cabin that may contain logs from one of the original huts as well as a reconstruction of the Temple of Virtue, which originally served as a meeting place. Costumed interpreters offer demonstrations on blacksmithing, camp life, and military drills, while two museum buildings display archaeological artifacts, dioramas, and an artillery exhibit.
