NYS DEC Carters Pond Wildlife Management Area

Details

Originally acquired by the State of New York as a Waterfowl Management Area, this 446-acre Wildlife Management Area hunters in October and November. Plenty of deer, ducks, woodcock, and grouse await the skillful hunter. Pheasants are released prior to the hunting season. Muskrat, mink, and fox will attract the trapper's interest. During the summer, anglers fish for largemouth bass, chain pickerel, northern pike, bluegill, sunfish, and bullhead. Other activities to enjoy include bird watching, photography, hiking, and cross-country skiing. Every season, there is something for everyone at Carters Pond.
