The Old Erie Canal State Historic Park is a 36-mile trail built along the remains of the historic Old Erie Canal. This educational and recreational site features notable landmarks along the trails like old bridges and small aqueducts. Having both wetland and woodland terrain, the park allows visitors to go on hikes, host picnics, ride on horseback, bike, ride canoes, go fishing, and even snowmobiling, depending on the season. Stretching from DeWitt, New York to Rome, New York, visitors can tour the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum and the Canastota Canal Town Museum as well.
