In the heart of downtown Lake Placid is the Olympic Center, a revitalized sport and entertainment venue and conference center serving up inspiring experiences for all ages. Home to such central elements of Lake Placid’s Olympic legacy as the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena, the 1932 Jack Shea Arena, the USA rink, and the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval, the Olympic Center is a monument to a miraculous past. It’s also a modern visitor attraction offering many events and activities. The Lake Placid Olympic Museum awaits just inside the Olympic Center’s spacious new Miracle Plaza. Featuring interactive displays and experiential learning exhibits, athlete stories, and important artifacts, the museum experience leads visitors to discover the rich history of the region. Inside the Olympic Center’s Main Street entrance, close to the village’s downtown shops and restaurants, is the Lake Placid Conference Center, offering a regular schedule of seminars and conventions of all sizes with a full 90,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.
