An official Path Through History Site! The Erie Canal Heritage Park, located at the site of former Lock 52 in Port Byron, NY, will offer visitors a glimpse into authentic life on the Erie Canal in the mid-19th to early 20th centuries. The intriguing walls of the former lock beckon NYS Thruway travelers to pause in their journey to discover history at a totally unique attraction that features walking trails to an intact 19th century canal lock. The park includes the enlarged Erie Canal Lock 52 and the Erie House Complex, which dates back to 1895, the Erie House Tavern and Hotel, a mule barn and blacksmith shop. The newly constructed Visitor's Center offers interactive displays and educational materials.
