Pratt Institute & Library


An official Path Through History Site! The Pratt Library at Pratt Institute is in a 1896 landmark building with interiors by the Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company. The library opened in 1888 to serve not only students but the general public as well, was the first free public library in Brooklyn. The architect of the building was William Tubby. Pratt Institute is a private art college in New York City located in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn with satellite campuses in Manhattan and Utica. Pratt is one of the leading art schools in the United States and offers degree programs in Architecture, Graphic Design, History of Art and Design, Industrial Design, Fine Arts, Fashion Design, Jewelry Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Digital Arts, Creative Writing, Library and Information Science, and other areas.
