Sachem Daniel Nimham Monument
NEWSLETTER
A historical monumental bronze sculpture to Sachem Daniel Nimham, the last official sachem of the Wappinger tribe of Indians in the Hudson Valley. The sculpture was dedicated by the Town of Fishkill on June 11, 2022 on an arrowhead shaped piece of land between routes 52 and 82 in East Fishkill, NY. Nimham was one of many Wappinger who joined the Stockbridge Mohicans and fought and died for the American Cause. There are two plaques; one bearing his name and that of the Wappingers, and the second plaque which provides the names of officials and the sculptor as well as a QR code on our website, providing information, and films of the making of the statue, and dedication. The site is open 24 hours and is free for the public. Currently there is no official parking location. However visitors can pull over on the grass. Photography provided by sculptor, Michael Keropian.
