SU Art Museum

Details

Free and open to all, the Syracuse University Art Museum welcomes visitors from across campus, the local community, and around the world. Located in the heart of Syracuse University’s historic campus, the museum is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with extended hours Thursdays until 8 p.m. (Galleries are closed during the summer months.)

With a collection of over 45,000 objects spanning 5,500 years of global art history, the Syracuse University Art Museum is one of the top ten largest academic art collections in the United States. From ancient artifacts to contemporary works, the museum connects the past and present through thought-provoking exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement. The collection features historic works by artists such as Salvador Dalí, Berenice Abbott, and Sir Joshua Reynolds, alongside contemporary creations by Stephanie H. Shih, James Little, and Peter B. Jones.

The Museum also serves as a “museum without walls,” with more than 30 monumental sculptures and murals placed throughout campus—including Ben Shahn’s iconic mosaic The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti and Rico Lebrun’s Crucifixion—integrating art into the daily experience of the Syracuse community.

No matter who you are – student, researcher, art lover, or curious traveler – the Syracuse University Art Museum welcomes you.
