  • The Knickerbocker Hotel has reopened after an extensive renovation to celebrate NYC's high style. A Beaux-Arts building designated by the City as an official landmark—and also included in the National Register of Historic Places—the original Knickerbocker Hotel welcomed glitterati and dignitaries after its 1906 opening by owner John Jacob Astor IV. The Knickerbocker certainly has a rich history: world renowned tenor Enrico Caruso and his family lived in the hotel in order to be close to the Metropolitan Opera, and the venue is rumored to have been the birthplace of the martini. For the renovation, the sought-after architectural and interior design team Gabellini Sheppard has created a renewed narrative for the property's glamorous past, reimagining this upscale destination for a contemporary era of luxury. Hotel features include 330 guestrooms and suites, a comprehensive fitness studio, event space for up to 250 guests, signature restaurant Charlie Palmer at The Knick and a 7,500-square-foot rooftop bar and terrace overlooking Times Square.
