The Marvin House

Details

An Official Path Through History Site! This stunning example of E.G.W. Dietrich’s “shingle style” architecture is the backdrop as you travel back in time. The shingle style home came into fashion in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. It was a reaction to the decorative and sometimes overwrought styles of the Victorian age. The style was so named because of the extensive use of shingles as an exterior sheathing material. The interior of the Marvin House seamlessly blends elements from the Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, and Eastlake styles. Vastly different design styles intermingle with one another to produce an environment of enchantment enjoyed by the upper class in 1900s. For your convenience The Marvin House tour is guided by QR codes for visiting each area of the home at your leisure. Listen to the voices of Robert and Elizabeth Marvin welcome and guide you through their historic home. Tours available Saturdays 10:00-2:00 or all other days and times by appointment. Tour admission is $10. Group discounts may apply. We love to show off our house. Upon request, enjoy light fare or elegant meals prepared by in-house cook and staff.
