Upper Delaware Scenic Byway

An official Path Through History Site! Route 97 was extolled as "The Most Scenic Highway in the East" at public dedication ceremonies for the new state highway on August 30, 1939. This beautiful corridor parallels the Delaware River along the border between New York and its New Jersey and Pennsylvania neighbors. Dramatic cliffs, sweeping vistas and glimpses of wildlife can all be found along the route.
