Waterman Conservation Education Center

An official Path Through History Site! Miles of trails wander through 95 acres of upland forest and open meadows with small gorge. Brick Pond and Hiawatha Island are historically significant sites in Tioga County. Hiawatha Island, which is the largest river island in NYS, was used by native people as a resting area and for agricultural purposes. Later, a four-story Hotel was built and was successful for many decades. Remnants of this hotel and barns exist on the island today.
