Denice Evans-Sheppard is the CEO and founder of Whispering Spirit Cultural Tours, LLC. The business was formed out of the necessity to visit cultural and historical sites that represented Indigenous and African American culture. Within various communities throughout Long Island and the country, African Americans and Indigenous people lived in family clusters and helped with the town's overall survival. However, due to gentrification and high cost of living, many families of color were forced to move. Therefore, their voices were silenced and faces were made to remain invisible. The mission of Whispering Spirit Cultural Tours is to invite people who are passionate about learning the history and culture of these forgotten people and explore their life experiences.
