Snowmobiling in New York

Ride over 10,500 miles of snowmobile trails across the state!

From the snow-capped peaks and endless forests of the Adirondacks to the shores of Lake Erie, you’ll find wide-open trails winding through public and private lands across every kind of terrain. Ride the wild, forested routes of the Tug Hill Plateau, blanketed with 200–300 inches of lake-effect snow each year. Cruise along 800 miles of groomed trails through the Adirondack Park, from Speculator and Long Lake to Old Forge, known as the Snowmobile Capital of the East.

Rent a snowmobile or join a guided tour with Adirondack businesses like C+C Snowmobile Tours, Farmhouse Snowmobiling, and Flat Rock Inn. If you’re traversing the trails in Central New York, Adirondack Sport Center has you covered.

Each year, visitors from out of state and Canada can take advantage of two Free Snowmobile Weekends (typically late February and early March). For more information on snowmobiling in New York, registering an out-of-state snowmobile, or planning your trip, visit New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
